Melvin E. Harpine, 26, of the 100 block of Pleasant Street was arrested and charged in Hanover after, police allege, he tried to sexually solicit and lure several Hanover Middle School students into his vehicle in October and November of last year.
He is charged with two counts each of luring a child into a vehicle and corruption of minors, and one count of harassment.The charges came after five students under the age of 16 reported to school staff that they had been approached by a man, according to court documents.School administrators told police that students indicated the man made lewd remarks and tried to lure two others into his vehicle.
The students were able to give a description of the man, who was later identified as Harpine, according to court documents.One student told police the man pulled her up to his vehicle on Oct. 31 and asked her if she would pull down her pants for $20, while another girl said that, on Nov. 15, he asked if she wanted to see his genitals, according to court documents.Harpine also was charged in Penn Township a month after the Hanover charges. He faces counts of corruption of minors, unlawful contact with minors, open lewdness and disorderly conduct.
Harpine was scheduled to appear in York County court for a pretrial conference June 19 for both the Hanover and Penn Township charges.When he did not appear, a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.Harpine had been released from prison on bail March 6, according to court documents.

A police spokesman says customs officials at the Haifa port found 104kg of pure cocaine hidden in coffee cans shipped from Colombia.He says it's "definitely" the biggest drug bust ever made in Israel.Police say the cocaine had a street value of more than $US15 million ($A15.63 million).The uncut cocaine was discovered last month. Police say they arrested eight suspects but released them due to lack of evidence. Police say they are still investigating.
